About Pinch Flat: Bikepacking Journal

We are a growing network of riders, writers, route creators, photographers, and designers celebrating and supporting alternative cycling culture in the UK and Europe. Founded in 2024, PINCH FLAT is rooted in the bikepacking and long-distance cycling communities of Bristol, UK, and inspired by the countless riders we’ve shared trails with — at home and further afield.

We started off by stitching together The Old Chalk Way, our coast-to-coast, cross country gravel route exploring some of England’s most important neolithic sites and through our journal we share stories from riders tackling adventurous routes across Europe and further afield.

We publish stories, gear reviews and routes from our world of adventure by bike. We shine a light on the alt-bike subcultures across the UK and Europe — from cargo-couriers to overnighters, from DIY route creators to ultra-distance racers. Our goal is to inspire more people to ride differently, ride further, or just ride more.

Who Are We?

    CHRIS HUNT

    FOUNDING EDITOR

With over a decade in print magazines and digital editorial content Chris has worked with some of the world’s biggest outdoor and cycling brands. He’s worked as a cargo bike courier, toured across the Alps on a mountain bike, and in 2025 he raced 5000kms across Europe in the TCR. But his best rides are the ones with friends that end at the pub.

    BEN WORMALD

    ROUTES

Self-confessed map nerd, Ben is no stranger to bikepacking long-distances and ultra-racing. In 2022 he designed The Old Chalk Way and in 2025 he rode the Transcontinental Race as a pair with Chris. When he’s not behind bars he works as a Paramedic in Bristol.

    PHOTOS AND VIDEOS

Nearly two decades immersed in BMX, producing print and online content for RIDE UK, these days the wheels are bigger and the horizons far wider than the local skatepark. He began his ultra journey at the inaugural Atlas Mountain Race in 2020 and in 2025 rode over 2600km to photograph the TDF, the TCR and GBDURO.

    DESIGNS

An editorial designer turned brand creative, Tommy has worked with Rapha, Nike, and Apple. Alongside his day job as Design Lead at Wonderhood Studios Tommy is responsible for the design aesthetics behind PINCH FLAT.
