About PINCH FLAT

PINCH FLAT is your new home for all things adventure by bicycle — for the long rides, scenic detours, and the simple joy of rolling on two wheels. Whether you're a seasoned bikepacker, a gravel explorer, or just discovering the joy of slow travel, PINCH FLAT is for anyone who finds freedom in the rhythm of the rolling on two wheels.

Our Story

Founded in 2024, PINCH FLAT is rooted in the bikepacking and long-distance cycling communities of Bristol, UK, and inspired by the countless riders we’ve shared trails with — at home and further afield.

We are a growing network of riders, writers, route creators, photographers, and designers. What started as a personal project is now a platform to celebrate and support alternative cycling culture in the UK and Europe.

Through the PINCH FLAT Journal, we publish stories, gear reviews, routes, interviews from our world of adventure by bike.

We shine a light on the alt-bike subcultures across the UK and Europe — from cargo couriers to overnighters, from DIY route creators to ultra-distance racers. Our goal is to inspire more people to ride differently, ride further, or just ride more.

Who Are We?

Chris Hunt – Content

With over a decade in magazines and digital editorial, Chris focuses on storytelling from the bike. From launching multi-day routes to writing environmental trail reports, he founded PINCH FLAT to shine a light on the peripheries of cycling culture. When he’s not working on PINCH FLAT and not riding his bike, you can find his name behind various communications projects in the bike industry from writing content for Canyon to putting together reports for Trash Free Trails.

You can read his latest stories on the journal here or you can follow his adventures here.

Tommy Spitters – Design

An editorial designer turned brand creative, Tommy has worked with Rapha, Nike, and Apple. His visual style is shaped by hours in the saddle across Central London, bringing aesthetic depth to the PINCH FLAT experience.

Ben Wormald – Routes

An ultra-distance racer and map obsessive, Ben developed many of the rides featured on the site, including The Old Chalk Way. He also contributes much of the photography featured throughout the Journal.

Routes

We started off stitching together the award winning, The Old Chalk Way, our coast-to-coast, cross country gravel route exploring some of England’s most important neolithic sites and through our journal we share stories from riders tackling adventurous routes across Europe and further afield. But we want to take it further. In 2026 and beyond we’ll be sharing more of our own original routes and we’d love you to ride them.

Bikes Matter

Every choice counts and the choice to ride a bike is about more than turning pedals. In a world shaped around cars, riding a bike is a radical act. Every ride is a small act of:

  • Defiance against a broken system

  • Connection to place, people, and self

  • Sustainability in motion

More people on bikes means healthier bodies, cleaner cities, and more good times. We believe the most powerful cycling stories aren’t about watts or weight savings — but about freedom, identity, and community.
